After you log in to your Amazon Drive on your PC or smartphone browser, you can find the files that are available on your Amazon drive, and you can even add new files, or download them at your convenience. Using the different options, you can create new folders, upload a complete folder, and do a lot of other things on Amazon Drive. I just wish Amazon Drive comes with features to edit documents right on the cloud, just like OneDrive and Google Drive.

That would, from my point of view, make ends meet, as most users need that. So, that was all about how you can access Amazon Drive on your computer or your mobile devices.

Your software department and your pricing department really failed on this one. I do like the cloud, and I like the old software that is still loaded onto my old computer and my scheduling program is still on that computer so that it sincs automatically, but because of that, I have to have two computers on my desk at all time because I can’t spend my entire day uploading into the cloud and putting the appointments into the right files.

It was one of the reasons that I chose your cloud, but it will be one of the main reasons that I search for another cloud come March of next year. My boss won’t pay that price, and they already have a personal prime membership, they don’t want to have to purchase another to store the files.

While much has been discussed about the lack of user control of sync-ing of files between devices and “the mother ship”, i. Yeah, you guessed it, Amazon Cloud Drive was sync-ing my files via my cellular data plan. Their cure was to keep paying at the 40GB level with no way to return to the 30GB level at the same “grandfathered” price. So a word to the wise, the lack of user control with the Amazon Cloud Drive software can bite you and bite you very hard.

As has been noted by others, removal of the software is not so straightforward and deregistration is about the only way to get it off your PC. By the way, during this same period of time, my PC was complaining about running out of hard drive space So I agree with what others have said, be very careful about this software until Amazon sees fit to give users control over what to sync, when to sync, and how to sync wifi or network only, or cellular only on demand of the user. I like Drive Desktop very much.

I had a few issues the first time I used the desktop app for uploading photos – but I’m honestly not sure if it was the app of my temperamental laptop so I’m not factoring that into this review.

I browse for and upload photos one folder at a time – I found that was the best way for me. Once the photos are uploaded via the desktop app relatively quickly – considering most of my folders contain hundreds of photos each it was easy to use the website to move, rename and reorganize folders. My only concern is that it appears that if you upload the same folder twice, you just get duplicates of those photos. Not a big deal. It is easy to delete photos as well.

Spend more money and go with a different service. As a fan of Amazon, I am disappointed to say that both Amazon’s overall Cloud Drive implementation and their application are poor examples of what a cloud-based storage implementation should be. If this is your first experience, do not judge the cloud based on Amazon. Look at Google, Dropbox or many of the other well thought out solutions out there.

I will not try and list all of the things wrong with their service, but I will highlight the top reasons to stay away unless you are looking to simply store music and photos for your Kindle.

Performance is terrible. On my 35 Mbps connection, I can download a file from my Amazon drive and my Dropbox drive at the same time. Dropbox is times faster on downloads.

It is easily 10 times faster to upload to Dropbox than it is to Amazon. No syncing. Keep all your music online and listen to it anywhere with Amazon Cloud Player.
