Hey, it still doesn’t fix. You may manually remove the Office traces from the Computer by following the link below then try to install Office and check how it works.

I’ve had this problem with the install error for months now when I attempt to upgrade to Office from Office OS Version: 6. I had contacted Microsoft about this issue but all they could tell me is that this error is some sort of permissions issue but couldn’t give me a fix for the root cause. Microsoft did give me a work around to get the upgrade to occur.

That’s it. That process seems to work fine. However, it’s not ideal in a corporate environment when supporting client pc’s all over country. Once the PC is unjoined from the domain, it’s pretty difficult to work on the computer on the company network then. The upgrade works for me when unjoining the pc from the corporate domain. That might mean there is some sort of group policy issue since there is a lot going on when unjoining and joining pc’s to domains with respect to GPO’s.

I’ve noticed that right before the upgrade fails, which is always right at the very end of the upgrade, Microsoft Office is actually installed completely on the pc. Windows sometimes starts downloading the security updates to Office before it fails. So, the software is there and really installed. I’m suspicious of one thing that Office tries to do at the very end of the install process, I think it tries to activate the product with a product key, which I haven’t given it yet.

I’m guessing that the activation fails and then sends the install into a rollback phase. All this being said, the office install error appears to have been around for years. I find NO real fixes to the problem and that surprises me.

I downloaded the trial version of Office to evaluate it, but was unable to install it because I kept getting the following error Setup cannot find or validate an installation file. Please try reinstalling office from your installation source or if you installed from a downloaded package, please re-download and reinstall.

If you continue to haVe problems contact Microsoft or your system administrator. I tried re-downloading the program – again I was met with the same problem. I tried running the setup file as administrator – problem remained. I tried copying the program to the hard drive and running it from there as the administrator – problem remained.

I downloaded Microsoft fixit tool for problem installations and ran that – that was no use either. The error message just kept coming back again. Or is there something so blatantly obvious going on that I’m missing it? Copy all the files from the Microsoft Office folder and paste those to into a folder on your hard drive.

From the copied folder, find the setup. Select that file and and right-click on it and choose Run as administrator option from the menu items. After completing step 2, Th e User Account Control window will opened and will ask you Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? It did that flawlessly but I got the same error after trying to uninstall Office 2k I can uninstall Office 2k13 manually by running setup.
